Family Farmers raise their voice at COP27

[cid:image006.jpg@01D904D3.5AE83C00]"We are critical for global food security!" Organizations representing more than 350 million family farmers and producers publish an open letter at COP27, calling on world leaders to work with them to build a stronger food system.

Highlights from the 2021 Annual Report

The Forest and farm Facility (FFF) is now about halfway through its second phase. As documented in the FFF 2021 annual report<https://pubs.iied.org/20836g>, its impact is scaling up. The increasing visibility and influence of smallholders and Indigenous Peoples can largely be attributed to the hard work and engagement of forest and farm organizations and their members, supported by the FFF and other like-minded bodies. Together, we are showing the power of these vibrant communities and what their actions on behalf of their members can deliver.

Getting climate funding to grassroots level
Rural communities in the global South are often all too familiar with the adverse effects of climate change on their land and livelihoods, yet only 10 percent of global funds reach the local level with just 1.7 percent accessible to locally controlled organizations. It is time for grassroots organizations to take their place as required beneficiaries and accredited partners for external climate finance.

Dear all,

Please find attached the Forest and Farm Facility Zoom backgrounds developed with Marco. After we tested it at our team meeting (thanks for having played the game ;-)) here are the final ones. I hope this will make our meetings more beautiful ! It would be nice that all our FFF group uses it at the upcoming Steering Committee meeting, it will add nice green touches on the screen. You can choose the one you prefer, there are 5 choices of pictures and each one is normal or blur.

The country examples will be included in the sections Major themes and Major results by outcome, and not in country factsheets. We welcome your comments, you can insert changes in track changes in the draft. In any cases once we have the long annual report ready, we will try things and adjust along the way.
We will try to keep more or less the same length and graphical style with boxes, quotes, pictures and breaking

Dear all, I think I shared Emilie's message about Sweden's latest situation, that they would like to wait for the completion of their next 5 year plan before committing funding for Phase II but are willing to consider some bridge funding this year for the transition - offering to extend the existing agreement for "a few months". Clearly this is not the ideal situation we were hoping for and I am trying to decide how to approach this with her tomorrow. I would appreciate your collective wisdom and advice on strategy.

ESPECILLY SOPHIE AND SVEA

In developing the preliminary performance measurement framework for Phase 2 (using the Canadian format) one very small issue of logic needed changing in the logframe. I have modified the wording of Output 1231 accordingly. It is a small change - but please do use this version of the logframe from now on so we all use the same core document. This applies directly to Sophie and Svea - as they were responsible for writing the activities for that output.

Dear all,
Thanks to Svea and Carla for analyzing the two proposal formats (see below) and agreeing that we start with the Canadian format and to Duncan and Sophie for helping with the log frame. Please have a look at the Contents attachment and the log frame attachments first to see my proposed distribution of leading writers. The idea would be to fill in the third attachment (the Canadian proposal template) but in this case perhaps not worry quite so much about word limits - but try and adequately describe what we hope to achieve in each of these sections.

Dear all, I just wanted to be sure we are all working from the same "latest version" of the Concept Note for Phase II. I believe this is it. However we can still improve this short version too.

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for this interesting alternatives paper - really stimulating read. In some ways - I have been musing over similar issues in the attached. Please comment or share as you see fit.

Dear all, Very simple but quite clear web-site. Something for us to think about as we develop phase II. http://thetenurefacility.org/

Just sending a virtual Group hug to the whole FFF team and family for all the hard work (including the very last minute) - that went into the preparations for the last three days. Both the Donor Support Group and the Steering Committee. Let get in together tomorrow at 2 pm for a re-cap of the meeting and the challenges in the preparation process too!!!@
