Dear Dr. Branislava Lalic,
Regards,
My first reaction to your question is as follows
1. What you heard is correct
2. Scientific reason: The response of water melons to drip or sprinkler irrigation is very good. Even though genetic character plays a dominant role in size of water melons, the seasonal conditions further dominates the genetic character. Example: Under summer conditions and dry weather irrigation improves the size of water melons grown in sandy loam soils
Sincerely,Dr.Murthy
