Dear Subscribers,
Please see herebelow two more contributions from Roberto Peiretti from
AAPRESID in Argentina prompted by the response of CA farms to drought in
the US. Argentina is a country that has gone through similar drought
situations, and today more than 80% of its arable area is under no-till
farming systems.

Dear Amir:
So nice to meet with you during the AAPRESID meting last week. Hope we can
make a strong movement around the world coordinating actions to push hard
the CA (No Till System) adoption.
Related to the benefits on water use efficiency derived from No Till
systems, I am attaching two documents for you to distribute them widely, if
you consider appropriate:
1.) A report I had written after participating on a Electronic Forum
organized by FAO some years ago;
No Till Improves Soil Functioning and Water Economy
(paper)<ftp://ext-ftp.fao.org/ag/data/agp/Friedrich/CA-CoP-L-message/R%20Peiretti%202005-FAO%20Water%20Res%20Soils-%20V3%20Fin.pdf>
2.) A brief PowerPoint related to the issue summarizing some of our
experiences and finding.
No Till’s role at increasing Productivity, Profit and Sustainability (power
point)<ftp://ext-ftp.fao.org/ag/data/agp/Friedrich/CA-CoP-L-message/Roberto%20Peiretti%20Water%20Mnagment-Soil%20Health-Wheat%20under%20No%20Till.pdf>
Hope these documents are of use. Please feel free to circulate them on the
CA-CoP if you feel they are appropriate.
Kind regards from
Ms. of Sc. Roberto A. Peiretti
