Dear Subscribers,
Please see herebelow a self-explanatory message from Josef Kienzle of FAO,
Rome, regarding the new *Dgroup on the Community of Practice on Sustainable
Agriculture Mechanization (SAM)*.
The FAO-SAM team invites you all to join the Community of Practice on
Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization.
Thank you Josef and the SAM Team for this initiative and sharing the

*Conservation Agriculture is an ecosystem approach to regenerative
sustainable agriculture and land management based on the practical
application of context-specific and locally adapted three interlinked
principles of: (i) Continuous no or minimum mechanical soil disturbance
(no-till seeding/planting and weeding, and minimum soil disturbance with
all other farm operations including harvesting); (ii) permanent
maintenance of soil mulch cover (crop biomass, stubble and cover crops);
and (iii) diversification of cropping system (economically, environmentally
and socially adapted rotations and/or sequences and/or associations
involving annuals and/or perennials, including legumes and cover crops),
along with other complementary good agricultural production and land
management practices. *

Dear Amir,
Dear Saidi,
Dear Emilio,
You may have already seen or may be already aware that we - the Sustainable
Agricultural Mechanization (SAM) team of FAO - have initiated a new Dgroup
CoP on SAM. Below you find more details on it including the website link to
it. Now. Because we all know that Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable
Agricultural Mechanization are closely inter-linked. In fact SAM in
practice (at least for field mechanization in crops) can only work if CA
principles will be applied. This is the link and therefore to a large part
we consider that CA issues may be also discuss in this group. In fact some
of the most recent discussion themes were exactly these aspects. The group
is still quite infant but growing steadily. We are working on making the
SAM Dgroup list more popular and known in order to also get more
interactive and to obtain more responses from members. .
With this message, we all kindly ask you if you could share this below
Email announcement with the CA-COP List and through the ACT-Newsletter and
through the networks of ECAF.
We would be very very pleased if you could do so.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Josef on behalf of the FAO - SAM team.
