Dear BIOPLANNERS,

Tomorrow and the day after, delegates will assemble in Stockholm, Sweden

since the inaugural 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment.

.

Coinciding with the meeting, the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), in
collaboration with the (Indian) Council on Energy, Environment and Water
(CEEW) have produced a clear and punchy report on what is needed to ensure
that Stockholm+100 will be a celebratory event. The report is accompanied
by a second report produced by global youth and their separate meeting in
Stockholm is ongoing as I type.

Here are the metadata for the two reports…..

*Stockholm+50: Unlocking a Better Future*

SEI, CEEW

Scientific research offers evidence and guidance on how to progress on
critical challenges, build better societies and protect our planet. This
report was written to provide a scientific basis for the UN international
meeting ‘Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our
responsibility, our opportunity’, held in Stockholm on 2–3 June 2022. It is
intended to stimulate an informed debate on why change towards a
sustainable future is not happening at pace with the challenges humans and
the planet face, and guide leaders to actions they can take now, informed
by relevant science.

Stockholm+50: Unlocking a Better Future (SEI & CEEW, 2022) prepared ahead
of the UN international meeting ‘Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the

meant to capture the perspectives of youth, authored by a group of
early-career researchers at Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the

Finally, in 1972 I was just going up to college, to study environmental
biology, but my attention was, at the time, focused on David Bowie, so was
intrigued to find this link to my past -
