Dear Subscribers,

Please see herebelow a self-explanatory message from Stefano Brenna of the
EU funded Life Help Soil Project that was implemented in North Italy
between 2013 and 2017. The project was aimed at monitoring indicators of
soil ecosystem functions and assessing the capacity of Conservation
Agriculture to restore agro-ecosystems to a more sustainable and productive
state.

Thank you Stefano for sharing. very much appreciated!

*Conservation Agriculture is an ecosystem approach to regenerative
sustainable agriculture and land management based on the practical
application of context-specific and locally adapted three interlinked
principles of: (i) Continuous no or minimum mechanical soil disturbance
(no-till seeding/planting and weeding, and minimum soil disturbance with
all other farm operations including harvesting); (ii) permanent maintenance
of soil mulch cover (crop biomass, stubble and cover crops); and (iii)
diversification of cropping system (economically, environmentally and
socially adapted rotations and/or sequences and/or associations involving
annuals and perennials, including legumes and cover crops), along with
other complementary good agricultural production and land management
practices. Conservation Agriculture systems are present in all continents,
involving rainfed and irrigated systems including annual cropland systems,
perennial systems, orchards and plantation systems, agroforestry systems,
crop-livestock systems, pasture and rangeland systems, organic production
systems and rice-based systems *(more at: www.fao.org/ag/ca).

Subject: Life HelpSoil project - Technical Guidelines
To: [log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]>

Dear Amir,

Supporting the dissemination of soil conservation practices for an
agriculture durable and capable to deliver larger ecosystem services was
the objective of the Life “HelpSoil” project (www.lifehelpsoil.eu ), that
was implemented in North Italy between 2013 and 2017. The project was aimed
at monitoring indicators of soil ecosystem functions and assessing the
capacity of Conservation Agriculture to restore agro-ecosystems to a more
sustainable and productive state. To this purpose, technical guidelines
based on the results achieved in 20 demonstrative farms have been carried
out, considering adaptation options to the different local agro ecological
conditions and cropping systems occurring in the North Italy and comparing
the environmental and agronomic performance of conservation and
conventional management practices.

The English version of the Technical Guidelines is available now. They can
be downloaded at

Many Thanks!

Best regards
