*Conservation Agriculture is an ecosystem approach to regenerative
sustainable agriculture and land management based on the practical
application of context-specific and locally adapted three interlinked
principles of: (i) Continuous no or minimum mechanical soil disturbance
(no-till seeding/planting and weeding, and minimum soil disturbance with
all other farm operations including harvesting); (ii) permanent
maintenance of soil mulch cover (crop biomass, stubble and cover crops);
and (iii) diversification of cropping system (economically, environmentally
and socially adapted rotations and/or sequences and/or associations
involving annuals and/or perennials, including legumes and cover crops),
along with other complementary good agricultural production and land
management practices. Conservation Agriculture systems are present in all
continents, involving rainfed and irrigated systems including annual
cropland systems, perennial systems, orchards and plantation systems,
agroforestry systems, crop-livestock systems, pasture and rangeland
systems, organic production systems and rice-based systems. Conservation
Tillage, Reduced Tillage and Minimum Tillage are not Conservation
Agriculture, and nor is No-Till on its own* (more at:
http://www.fao.org/conservation-agriculture).

Subject: [mailinglist2_forum] Call for applications for partial renewal of
the STC of the 4 per 1000 Initiative
To: <[log in to unmask]>

Dear Partners and Members,

Following the last meeting of the Consortium of the Initiative held in
Katowice (Poland) last December, the Executive Secretariat opens a call for
applications for a partial renewal of the STC of the Initiative.

As it was decided by the Consortium, the first mandate of the STC members
was extended from 2 to 3 years, and consequently after the next meeting of
the STC in Chile next December, 3 STC members (1 was already replaced last
year) will finish their mandate and three new members will be appointed by
the Consortium. The 3 new members would preferably be from the same regions
than the 3 outgoing members, that means Africa and Oceania

The call will be open until September 15th, 2019, and the selection process
will be conducted under the supervision of the newly elected Bureau. The
selected candidates will be presented to the Consortium for validation next
December.

Please forward this call to all your scientific network to increase the
number of candidatures, keeping in mind that the candidates are not
representing their institution nor their country, but will be selected for
their own merits.

Best regards
