Dear Subscribers,

Please see a self-explanatory message from Paul Luu of 4 per 1000
Secretariat regarding the request to take part in a quite relevant online
survey about soil organic carbon management (SOC). This survey is promoted
by the EU funded CIRCASA project and the "4 per1000" initiative and it is
available in 7 languages.

Apologies for any cross-posting.

*Conservation Agriculture is an ecosystem approach to regenerative
sustainable agriculture and land management based on the practical
application of context-specific and locally adapted three interlinked
principles of: (i) Continuous no or minimum mechanical soil disturbance
(no-till seeding/planting and weeding, and minimum soil disturbance with
all other farm operations including harvesting); (ii) permanent
maintenance of soil mulch cover (crop biomass, stubble and cover crops);
and (iii) diversification of cropping system (economically, environmentally
and socially adapted rotations and/or sequences and/or associations
involving annuals and perennials, including legumes and cover crops), along
with other complementary good agricultural production and land management
practices. Conservation Agriculture systems are present in all continents,
involving rainfed and irrigated systems including annual cropland systems,
perennial systems, orchards and plantation systems, agroforestry systems,
crop-livestock systems, pasture and rangeland systems, organic production
systems and rice-based systems. Conservation Tillage, Reduced Tillage and
Minimum Tillage are not Conservation Agriculture, and nor is No-Till on its
own* (more at: www.fao.org/ag/ca).

Dear “4 per 1000” partners and members,

I send you a reminder to take part in a quite relevant survey about soil
organic carbon management (SOC). This survey is promoted by the EU funded
CIRCASA project and the "4 per1000" initiative and it is available in 7
languages.

*Take part in a survey about soil organic carbon management (SOC)

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to ask for your views on the role of Soil Organic Carbon
(SOC) management for climate change mitigation and sustainable development.

The survey is part of the H2020 CIRCASA project
(*https://www.circasa-project.eu/
<https://www.circasa-project.eu/>*). The aim of CIRCASA is to improve
international research cooperation and strengthen the international
research community in the field of soil carbon sequestration in
agricultural soils at European Union and global levels. To support this aim
a Strategic Research Agenda is being co-designed with stakeholders. This
Strategic Research Agenda will outline priorities for the alignment of
international research.

The results of the stakeholder survey will feed directly into the
development of the international Strategic Research Agenda on SOC. We also
expect that it will directly inform upcoming research priorities within
Europe. Strengthened coordination in research on SOC management in
agricultural soils will lead to improved understanding and scientific basis
to target ambitious practices required to preserve and enhance SOC.

What do you think are the most effective management options, barriers and
solutions? Further, what knowledge and research is needed to improve SOC
management?

Please take 30 minutes to fill out this survey. If you are a farmer,
landowner, public official, a non-profit organization, private business, in
academia, a member of civil society, a government authority, or dealing
with soil organic carbon management in any other way, the CIRCASA project
team would love to hear your opinions.

There are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. Your answers will be treated
confidentially and anonymously.

We very much welcome your participation in the survey. Please also feel
free to forward our survey to other interested parties.

The survey is open *until 28 February 2019.*

Click here to participate in the survey.

Thank you for your participation!
