Dear Florita

First of all, let me wish you and everyone and their families a Safe & Successful New Year.
You are certainly taking your retirement to Anguilla in fantastic spirits. Anguilla must be a beautiful and serene place for retirement though I am certain that you will not really be retiring.
On behalf of the Caribbean Poultry Association, I thank you for your assistance and support over the years both while you were in TT and in Barbados. It has been a real pleasure working with you. Your tireless contributions to Caribbean agriculture will serve us well into the future.
Kindest regards to you and your family

Desmond

Dear Ms. Kentish!

You may not remember me but I am Roma Collymore from the Ministry of Agriculture in Trinidad. Thank you for informing me about your retirement. I have visited Anguilla three or four times. I know it to be very quiet, peaceful and quite a nice place to retire. So I have no doubt you will enjoy it! So I wish you all the best and I hope we keep in touch!

Fondest Regards

Roma Collymore

Hello Ms Kentish

First let me apologise for missing your farewell dinner, however, my antecedents place great demands upon me and while I would have loved to be there it was just too much. I want to wish you all the best in your retirement and that you continue to make a contribution to life itself and the well being of others. Your thoughtful approach to dispensing the mandate of the FAO clearly demonstrated of the need to consult and listen which are admiring qualities. Few of us portray this in a world of quick fixes that serve to further complicate issues. I therefore thank you for your wonderful contribution to agriculture and its development. May the good lord guide you in your paths. Do have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Dear Florita,

It was indeed a great opportunity for Caribbean agriculture to have had the benefit of your leadership, expertise and guidance through the many years of your professional life thus far. God's willing, I expect the new 'Re treaded' contribution especially as you reside in one of the gems -Anguilla. Here's hoping that Toby and yourself enjoy all of Anguilla and that you endure a more restive pace that soothes and balances the hectic years of wrestling with the demands of tropical agricultural development.

I do remember our first interactions while you were associated with state agricultural system of Antigua and Barbuda, more so through the Caribbean Agricultural Extension Project (CAEP) of the University of the West Indies. After this encounter, I was sure that the region would benefit from your professional offerings in Agriculture. I was not wrong and today we can be very proud of your distinguished career which has contributed to the growth of Caribbean Agriculture.

Many thanks for your efforts to this seeming puzzle that is Agriculture in the Caribbean. We can agree that it is a great canvass of hope which must feed our people and generate rich and lasting traditions of food and fellowship. The region will always be mindful of the assistance you have provided.

Best wishes for the holidays ahead and the years beyond.

Regards

David Dolly

From: Robert Best

Florita

I am happy that you are content with moving on.

I really need to thank you for the support you provided, both while you were FAOR-TT and FAO-SRC. I don't think that the Promoting CARICOM CARIFROM Food Security project would not have achieved as much without your support, especially in the ongoing state of decentralization and transformation of the organization.

In reflection, I think we could have done much more, but I do remember the discussions and support you offered in may of key areas and thank you for your guidance. I hope that the lessons learnt will survive the project.

On a lighter note .... At last I have the dongs plants .. thanks. All the best to Mr Kentish for his help. And in spite of all your advise I still cant cook red beans!!!!!!!

Im sure that you will continue to contribute to food security and agriculture in the region and look forward to collaborate with you in this regard in the future.

Please do send this out on the FAO elist.

Regards

Robert

From: Kentish, Florita (FAOSLC)

Dear Colleagues/friends,

This is my penultimate day as FAO-Sub-Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean as I proceed on the journey as an FAO Retiree or as I prefer to call it "Re-treaded". Why? Because there is still great use to one's life when one retires. Where there is life there is hope

I am truly excited about the new phase of my life. Yes, Toby (the love of my life) and I will be retiring to Anguilla.

I wish to thank all of you for your part in my journey as FAO Sub-Regional Coordinator for the Caribbean. You have been quite supportive in your many support roles ( be it technical advice, participator, team member, colleague, mentor, confidante, friend, stakeholder, official....)

It was a pleasure interacting with you all and serving the region in this capacity. I count it a distinct privilege and honour to have done so. I have given it my all; not for the praise of men but for the development of the region and rural people in particular.

My FAO colleagues (Technical and Admin team in the Sub-Regional Office, the FAO Representatives of the Region and other colleagues in the Regional Office and Head quarters) have all worked beyond the call of duty as true servants of the UN. Thank you for the continued unflinching support and acceptance of me. I appreciate your professionalism, transparency and commitment to quality service. So continue to deliver in this vane.

To the many consultants, retired experts, retired FAO personnel who have helped me and the team meet some of our goals for the region I must thank you heartily for coming along side us.

To the partnerships with civil society members (particularly CAFAN, Barbados Agriculture Society, Barbados Network of Union of Fisher folk Organizations (BARNUFO) and National Agricultural Associations in the Eastern Carribbean, I am thankful of the way that you have engaged with our Agency in order to assist us in our quest to ensuring sustainability, capacity building and food security in the Region. Similar sentiments to our partner Regional Organizations (CARDI,IICA,CARICOM,CROSQ,CDEMA,OECS.....)

Be sure that I shall continue to be interested in the outcome of Agriculture in our Region. I shall continue to observe the developments and myself be involved in making things happen.

I will with time share my complete contact details. However, I can be reached at:

"SANKOFA"
Tanglewood
Forest Estate
Anguilla
