Prof Wilson should also be remembered for his pioneering efforts in mounting Farm Tech 85 (along with Ms Mable Tenn). That expo was an innovation that promised much to raise the profile as well as to modernise the sector. Sadly there was no continuity.
May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Colleagues,
My deepest sympathy. Professor Wilson contributed personally to my development as a professional and for this I say thanks.

Prof. Wilson as he was popularly called was a decent, upright and dedicated Caribbean professional. He made his contribution in the region and on the world stage. His death coincides with another world icon who also passed,Nelson Mandela.

May their soul rest in perfect peace.

Professor Laurie Wilson, in a very tangible way contributed significantly to the development of Jamaican agriculture through his contribution to the development of a cadre of local professional agriculturists over much of the past five decades. During the decade of the 1990's he was also very active in promoting the establishment of national chapters of alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture to better galvanize the professionalization of the Agriculture discipline.
As a former President of the Jamaican Alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture (JAFA-UWI) I take this opportunity to pay our respect to this Caribbean stalwart and to extend our condolences to his widow and other relatives.
