Subject: VACANCY: Project Coordinator for Pesticides Project Initiative
Dear Subscribers:
The FAO Sub Regional Office for the Caribbean (SLC) is seeking a Project Coordinator for the Project GCP/SLC/204/GFF - Disposal of Obsolete Pesticides including POPs, Promotion of Alternatives and Strengthening Pesticides Management in the Caribbean. The full Terms of Reference document is attached as a doc file.
The four-year project is being implemented by the FAO in 11 countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
Minimum Requirements
* University degree in Agronomy and / or plant protection or integrated pests and pesticide management or in a related subject matter.
* Post graduate training in project management or plant protection or related area would be an asset
* A minimum of ten years of experience in field project implementation of pest and pesticides management and/or project management
* A minimum of ten years of working experience in the Caribbean and /or with developing countries in the tropics in the area of pest and pesticides management.
* Good understanding of international conventions, internationally-accepted best practices and relevant agreements on pest and pesticide management.
* Knowledge of FAO Guidelines in the area of pest and pesticide management is essential.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
