Subject: Re: SSA - FEEDBACK ON USE OF MATERIALS, TOOLS AND REPORTS

Dear Joseph,

My gratitude to all after long not responded to earlier discussions but following up with the discussion.Am currently working for World Vision South Sudan Juba Rajap county (Development sector) food security and livelihood..

I had access to the FAO's SSA TOOLS and TRAINING MATERIALS .I used the training materials independently in the field last year while working for Universals Network for Knowledge and Empowerment Agency (UNKEA) and the tools worked well through feedback mechanism we got from our beneficiaries targeted especially on acountability to the affected population and understanding of farmers on better gardening practices was improved since the tools were simplified and easy to adopt by farmers even when conducting the training. however there was no chance of carrying out seed security assessment as no budget line since our activities were emergencies projects.

With World Vision i will now have the chance to conduct seed security assessment in Rajaf county CES post harvest as being the focal person to ensure this happen and will have the findings shared with members of the community of seed practice in the horn of Africa for inputs and sharing lessons learnt.

Best regards

Koiti Betty

Juba South Sudan

Dear all,

FAO through the EHO funded capacity building project (OSRO/GLO/303/EC) developed a number of SSA tools, training materials and supported SSA training and field work in South Sudan, Kenya, Somalia Ethiopia and Uganda in the horn of Africa

1. Who has ever used the SSA tools and training materials independently without my support? And how useful have these tools and training materials been to your organization in designing or improving your seed security/food security program?

2. If you have ever had access to any of the SSA reports – how useful has it been in improving the design of your intervention in your country, state or county?

Regards,

Joseph Okidi
