Many thanks,Joseph and the rest of the guys there.Indeed we Action for Women and Child Concern(AWCC) as grassroots organization we are directly engaged with the people and seed recipients and most of the time observe the suppliers provide the wronger seed to the NGOs and this is actually something which will continue unless grassroots groups are involved in the procurement process and meticulous research is conducted whether the seeds to be distributed are actually grain or seed. In our case,Lower Shabelle,Somalia we have every year seeds to be distributed as SOMTUX (a Somali variety)but mostly the inputs are not genuine and NGOs are not serious to address this but we as grassroots organizations we are from the people,it hurts and wish to prevent this scum in whatever possible way and we demand full research. In several times,we had learnt that maize seed distributed was directly procured from the markets by companies claiming seed producers,we encourage NGOs regardless what type of community they may belong, they are still Somali, they should thoroughly investigate and test seeds supplied to them and if they observe scum they should not accept to distribute. Finally,we strongly believe that SOMTUX is not pure this time around in Somalia but the suppliers stick to old name and exploit accordingly.

Best regards,
Ahmed
AWCC CEO
