It is with great regret that I must inform EIFAAC colleagues of the untimely passing away of Dr Phil Hickley whilst visiting his son in Canada.

Phil was a great supporter of EIFAAC and former Chairman. He over saw the transition of the Commission to its present status. He brought a unique blend of fisheries science and management to a wide audience and was always willing to offer his support.

Many of you will know him from the conference list he circulated monthly.

He will be sadly missed.
