LinkTADs project is an EC-funded, FAO-lead research consortium that aims to coordinate research on transboundary animal diseases and zoonoses (both epidemiology and laboratory aspects) between the European Union and China. H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus of Clade 2.3.4.4 has been detected in migratory birds at Lake Ubsu-Nur in Tyva Republic of the Russian Federation, located on the Central Asian Flyway. Detection of HPAI virus in this location in the past has repeatedly been followed several months later by detection of similar virus in other locations especially to the West and South of Tyva Republic. Transboundary animal diseases (terrestrial and aquatic), plant pests and diseases (agriculture and forest plants) and food safety hazards, are raising public awareness for their potential impact on food and nutrition security, human health, livelihoods, and trade. The ability to predict FCC threats through a forecasting process is imperative for Governments to act quickly by taking necessary measures to prevent these threats, limit their geographic spread and minimize their impact. This document outlines the FAO Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance, which describes how the Organization will implement Resolution 4/2105 (Annex 1). The Plan was developed by a multidisciplinary FAO team to ensure that all relevant dimensions, including terrestrial and aquatic animal health and production, crop production, food safety, standard setting and legal aspects, are considered and that it is embedded within the Strategic Programme of FAO.
