The 7th Regional FMD West Eurasia Roadmap Meeting was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, form 6th-8th, 2016. The regional meeting was convened under the umbrella of the Global Framework for the Progressive Control of Transboundary Animal Disease (GF-TADs) and organized by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in collaboration with the European Commission for Foot-and-Mouth Disease (EuFMD). The Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan hosted the event which saw the participation of 12 of the 14 west Eurasia countries. FAO Work Planning meeting for year 1 of the USAID-funded Ebola Surveillance Project under the Emerging Pandemic Threats Programme Phase 2 (EPT-2) in Uganda
[cid:image016.jpg@01D1966A.44AF3D50]The first national FAO component of the USAID funded EPT-2 work planning meeting for Uganda was convened in Mukono district near Kampala on 23rd and 24th March, 2016. The primary objectives of the EPT-2, a programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are to prevent, detect and respond to infectious diseases that have adverse impact on human, livestock, and wildlife health, such as Ebola, avian influenza and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. Accelerating rabies control towards elimination in 2020

[cid:image018.jpg@01D1966A.44AF3D50]Through the consultation workshop with the participation of Department of Animal Health - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (DAH-MARD), Department of Preventive Medicine - Ministry of Health (GDPM-MOH), National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE), FAO Animal Health expert from Asia Pacific Regional office, USCDC, RAHOs, Regional public health institute, Sub-Department of Animal Health and Preventive Medicine Centre from the 12 provinces with high incidence of rabies. Rabies, a fatal viral disease of animals and humans, continues to pose a serious threat to human health and livelihoods in Viet Nam.
