Dear all,

Here below a message by the Codex Alimentarius Secretariat on new electronic working (EWG) groups that could be of relevance for the feed sector.

With regards to the Code of practice (COP) for the prevention and reduction of lead contamination in foods, the original intention was to update the COP in view of the completion of work on the revision of maximum levels (MLs) for lead in the General Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed (GSCTFF) and new developments in risk management measures since the adoption of the COP. The scope of this COP does not address specifically feed, but this could be a unique opportunity for the feed sector operators to include provisions for feed in the COP if relevant and make proposals to the EWG.
