Dear all,
Governmental competent authorities and private sector have repeatedly emphasized the need to raise awareness of food safety specialists and responsible authorities on the importance of ensuring safety of animal feed. For this reason, FAO and WHO are active in providing scientific advice and capacity development on the matter and they are organizing a
series of informative and advocacy events in conjunction with relevant Codex Alimentarius meetings.
More specifically, during the forthcoming 38th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, we are organizing a side event to present the conclusions and recommendations of the recently held FAO/WHO Expert Meeting on Hazards Associated with Animal Feed (FAO HQ, Rome, Italy, 12-15 May 2015), which was implemented in response to a request of the last session of the Codex ad hoc Task Force on Animal Feed, highlighting the need to make available to countries up to date information on the food safety hazards associated with feed.
Please, find attached the programme of the Side Event which will be organized in Geneva (Switzerland) on 9 july 2015 within the Codex Alimentarius Commission annual meeting. The Side Event is open also to non Codex Alimentarius Commission partipants, no registration is needed.
Best regards,
Daniela
