Dear all,

I fully support the idea of Dr. Singh, and moreover when a focused progressive control (having eradication of PPR in mind) is practiced the epidemiology of the diseases may be quite different. A combined vaccine may caused problems in the later stages of the progressive control programme. As experienced during the pan african rinderpest campaign, combined CBPP/ rinderpest vaccine was used to control an outbreak of CBPP in an area where Rinderpest vaccination was ceased for three years, and consequently messing up the sero-surveillance activity.
Kind regard

A vaccine Inducing immunity for 3-5 years may not be a suitable partner for the one which induces immunity for 6-9 months (inactivated vaccines). Under these situations all economics linked to vaccination cost may not work or fail. In my opinion an inactivated vaccine needs to be combined with inactivated one with similar duration of immunity, requirements of cold chain etc. It should not be on the basis of diseas priority only.
