First session of the COAG Sub-Committee on Livestock

16-18 March 2022

The Committee on Agriculture (COAG), established in 1971, is one of FAO’s Governing Bodies providing overall policy and regulatory guidance on issues relating to agriculture (including livestock), food safety, nutrition, rural development and natural resource management.

In 2020, in its 27th session, COAG established the Sub-Committee on Livestock<https://www.fao.org/unfao/govbodies/gsb-subject-matter/statutory-bodies-details/en/c/841/?no_cache=1> with a mandate to discuss and build consensus on livestock issues and priorities, and advise COAG, and through it, the FAO Council and Conference, on technical and policy programmes and activities needed to optimize the contribution of livestock, including in poverty alleviation, food security and nutrition, sustainable livelihoods and the realization of the 2030 Agenda. The Sub-Committee is FAO’s only dedicated global technical advisory committee on livestock.

The first session of the COAG Sub-Committee on Livestock<https://www.fao.org/coag/sub-committee-on-livestock/first-session/en/> will be conducted as a virtual event from 16‑18 March 2022.
