PPR Stakeholder seminar series
Community-led approaches
for Peste des petits ruminants eradication
7 October (11:00-12:00 CET)

FAO PPR Secretariat would like to invite you to the next PPR Stakeholder Series on
“Community-led approaches for Peste des petits ruminants eradication”.

Tinni Sawhney (Chief Executive Officer of Aga Khan Foundation, India) will share experiences from their ongoing work with community-based paravets (pashu sakhis) who provide preventive health care (including preventive vaccination and de-worming) and extension services to goat flocks against a fee, emerging as entrepreneurs in the community. These initiatives have resulted in an improvement in goat productivity and a considerable reduction in goat mortality, improving incomes for goat rearers who are primarily women. Moreover, the pashu sakhis have emerged as role-models in their communities, gaining considerable respect and recognition.”
