Dear Colleagues,

In line with FAO’S Gender Equality Policy, a Gender Stock-tacking Exercise will be conducted within the AGA Division.

This is an important exercise and I am kindly requesting your fullest collaboration. Our programmes already display a relatively good degree of gender sensitivity. However, we can do much more in this area and this exercise will translate into better results and impacts. The stock-taking exercise will provide AGA with a solid foundation for progress as well as recommend improvements for better gender integration in the work carried out by AGA Division. It will also review the progress that has been made on gender mainstreaming in AGA during the past bienniums.

The FAO gender stock-taking exercise is an inward-looking exercise to assess FAO’s past and present work in AGA through a gender lens, concentrating on the past bienniums 2014-2015 and 2016-207. The final report emerging from the stock-taking will:

• Show achievements, as well as gaps and challenges related to the promotion of gender equality in the Office’s work. Identify opportunities to advance gender equality and women empowerment in AGA’s work.

• Identify capacity development needs for gender mainstreaming and make recommendations on how to address them.

• Provide a baseline to measure progress on the achievement of the relevant Minimum Standards of the Gender Equality Policy.

The exercise will encompass different elements, including of an online survey (see the link below) and possible face-to face interviews for those in HQ. In order to make the stock-taking exercise as effective as possible, I am requesting your support and collaborations in respect to:

1.      Participate in face-to-face interviews/ discussions (staff and Branch/Service Chiefs at HQ);

2.       Providing documents to the persons carrying out the exercises (all technical staff and Branch/Service Chiefs);

Fill in a survey (link below) to document gender-related work in AGA. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BRGNFJ9

The exercise will be carried out by our divisional Gender Focal Point (GFP), Felix Njeumi, assisted by Francesca Castri, intern with AGAH. They will be contacting Chiefs, Team Heads and Stall in the coming days to provide further background and set-up meetings. For those outside HQ, you are kindly requested to fill in the questionnaires using the below link.
