the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is over, but FAO’s commitment in the containment of antimicrobial resistance continues. Not only with direct action, but also through the development of a waste range of tools that allow reducing the use of antimicrobials in agriculture and food production. An example is the newly released FAO/IFIF manual of Good Practices for the Feed Sector<http://newsletters.fao.org/c/1x2sk7kxie3yvT1qJbE2EgE>. The manual provides comprehensive information and practical guidelines to assist farmers, producers and all stake-holders along the feed value chain to comply with the requirements of the Codex Alimentarius Code of practice on Good Animal Feeding. It allows to minimize the presence of hazards in feed and to ensure feed safety. This in turn, renders animals less in need of antimicrobials to keep healthy and to produce accordingly with their potential.
