Dear all,
Our colleagues in TCE are conducting a rapid livestock and pastoralist assessment in the border areas of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia where there is a drought situation, increased and unusual livestock movements and livestock deaths. They are developing checklists for the survey and in this context, they are looking for any examples of emergency livestock checklists, which we could reference and adapt.
The checklists should cover areas such as:
* Impact on access to grazing
* Impact on access to water resources for livestock
* Impact on movement of livestock
* Impact on livestock traders and livestock markets
* Impact on livestock services
* Impact on natural resources
* Impact on gender division of labour
* Impact on livestock sales and prices
* Terms of trade for livestock vs grain
* Impact on livestock body condition
* Impact on livestock productivity, particularly milk production
* Impact on slaughter
* Disease impacts
* Forecasts and trends in all of the above for coming 3 months.
* Coping strategies of pastoralist populations
Could you please help them with any information available? Please, note that the Information is needed asap - i.e. by tomorrow morning before 12.00 Rome time.
Thanks and regards,
Daniela
