Thanks a lot for sharing this, Jhony. Congratulations to the Kenyan colleagues!

This is a very valuable example of how social protection programmes can benefit rural/forest producers.

Sophie

Subject: FFF Kenya_ concrete results of FFF support on access to social protection

Dear Colleagues,

FYI, I want to share with you the final report of CENAREMA, Kenya. In the document you will find:

· Table 1 in page 5: Social Protection Programs Covered by National Government

· table 18 in page 26 Proposed framework of how the FF-SPAK will enhance access of social protection programs

In the email below you can see that Charcoal Producers Associations (CPAs) will start benefit from the social protection programme on Adaptive Response to Climate Change and Emergencies (NDMA). Likewise Kenya, I hope that FFPOs in many FFF countries will benefit from the social protection programmes of theirs countries.

Kisoyan has facilitated this support to FFPOs on social protection in close collaboration with our FAO colleague Qiang,

Cheers,

Jhony

Subject: Follow-up on use of database for FF-SPAK members of Charcoal producers

Good morning Mr Philip Kisoyan,

I hope this email finds you well, I wish to let you know that following our meeting with National social protection secretariat Director (Madam Cecilia) and the focal person handling forest-dependents social protection issues (Mr. Richard Obiga), it was agreed that, the vulnerable members of CPAs/CPGs of Turkana in the database will start to benefit from Adaptive Response to Climate Change and Emergencies (NDMA) Program from National social protection program inform of cash transfer through their mobile telephone numbers, which is normally done for two years. We(NSPS, FF-SPAK, KFS and CENAREMA) are also planning to meet the CCF next week to now plan further, a meeting with the PS Ministry of Environment & Forests and PS of Labour and Social protection to ensure that the two policy briefs are developed to policy/guidelines.

Regards,

Anne
