Dear everyone,
Please see self-explanatory message below from DDOS. You are kindly requested to ensure that your security training certificates, which expire every three years, are up-to-date (please provide copies to your team leader) and that you obtain UNDSS security clearance for every duty travel you undertake. In future, these two points will be checked before T.A's are approved.

E. Muller,
Director, FOA

Subject: Security Training

Dear colleagues,

Further to previous communication sent by Security Service (DDOS) regarding FAO personnel whose security certificates have expired, I would like to reiterate the importance that personnel under your respective area of responsibility ensure that their mandatory Basic Security in the Field II (BSITF II) and/or Advanced Security in the Field (ASITF) certificates are complete and up-to-date.

It would therefore be appreciated if you, as managers, could ascertain that the concerned personnel has completed both courses, when they are to be deployed to the field or undertake duty travel.

The two courses are now available in the six official UN languages on [log in to unmask]

You may wish to establish, as a standard practice, that you ascertain, before signing any Travel Authorization (TA), that the concerned traveller has:

i)                 complied with the aforementioned mandatory security training requirements;

ii) requested and obtained the mandatory Security Clearance.

Regards

Laurent Thomas
Assistant Director-General
Officer-in-Charge, DDO
