Ghanaian communities come together to protect threatened natural resources

[cid:image006.png@01D87059.12CB4020]Shea, Baobab, Tamarind and Parkia trees are essential for cultural traditions, biodiversity and women's livelihoods in northern Ghana. Due to an increase in commercial agriculture and competition for resources, these local species are at risk of extinction. To reverse this trend, community leaders have developed by-laws in collaboration with a local organization.

Family farmers influence policymakers in Togo and Bolivia
[cid:image007.jpg@01D87059.12CB4020]By forming cooperatives, small producers in Togo and Bolivia have been scaling-up their impact and influence in their respective national forestry sectors. Producer organizations in both countries are currently engaged in the development of national policies and strategies in favour of their members, proving that there is, indeed, strength in the collective.

Forest and Farm Facility partners present at Stockholm+50 event
[cid:image010.png@01D87059.12CB4020]During a one day event held by SIDA before Stockholm+50, the FFF will be hosting a dialogue on channelling finance to smallholder forest and farm producers' organizations for full spectrum climate action. The experience of the Farm Forestry Smallholder Producers Association of Kenya will be featured.

Grassroots voices at the World Forestry Congress 2022
[cid:image012.jpg@01D87059.12CB4020]Leaders of grassroots organizations and Indigenous Peoples' groups spoke at  three FFF-led sessions. Throughout the Congress, stakeholders highlighted the importance of diversified rural finance mechanisms, compensating forest and farm producers for their climate change mitigation efforts, and the need for cooperation between the financial sector, governments and rural producers.

Cécile Ndjebet wins Forest Champions Award
[cid:image014.jpg@01D87059.12CB4020]FFF Steering Committee member and activist Cécile Ndjebet has been recognized for empowering rural women and advocating for the wellbeing of forest-dependent communities through the Wangari Maathai Forest Champions' Award. For over 30 years, Cécile has been fighting for the sustainable use of forest resources and gender equality in the sector.
