Dear Members,
There is good news for those retirees who have registered to receive a Covid-19 Vaccination as per FFOA Information Note 13/2021.Things have been moving very quickly with the host government concerning vaccination rollout to UN personnel and retirees in Italy.

We are informed by the UN Crisis Management Team (CMT) that Phase 3 of the vaccination campaign will start THIS Thursday, 13 May and will continue over the next ten days.

What you need to know:

Phase 3 will begin with registered personnel, in possession of a codice fiscale (but not a tessera sanitaria or Italian national health insurance number) aged 55 and above. This Thursday vaccine administration will be solely dedicated to FAO colleagues, Friday to WFP, Saturday to IFAD and so forth through next week.

The aim is to vaccinate 250 FAO colleagues on Thursday 13 May in allocated time slots of one hour (30 persons per hour) starting at 9:00 through 18:00.

If you are in one of the above categories and have registered your intent and details, please be prepared to be vaccinated from Thursday onwards: you should keep an eye on your mailbox for an email over the next 24 hours.

Colleagues will receive notification via an email from Workspace Notification that will give a precise time slot and instructions on where to go and what to expect. Those who receive the notification will have a limited time in which to confirm their availability. For organisational purposes, colleagues cannot choose a time slot and must go with what they have been allocated.

The vaccine that will be administered is Pfizer.

Vaccination administration will be carried out by military personnel over the ten days in the Cecchignola military compound in Rome. After initial vaccines are administered on Thursday, subsequent vaccine administration will follow by age group (together with eligible dependents).

What you should do: If you have registered your interest to have the vaccine, give this absolute priority

Given the priority of this exercise, the availability and service provision that it entails, those persons who are given a time slot are strongly, very strongly, urged to arrange their schedules (and that of their dependents) accordingly. In other words, you should drop whatever you are doing and go in your allotted timeframe. Whatever engagement you may have, please treat this with the utmost importance.

The CMT and colleagues on the dedicated taskforce are working around the clock to ensure that operations between now and Thursday flow as smoothly as possible.

On a related point, FFOA has raised the difficulty in obtaining the ' green pass' vaccination certificate after being fully vaccinated when one does not have a Tessera Sanitaria and a SPID. This problem is still to be discussed and resolved with the local authorities but initial priority, rightly so, has been given to ensure that staff, dependents and retirees are able to get vaccinated.

When a mechanism is provided to access or receive the vaccination certificate, FFOA will inform members.

Keep safe and well,

FFOA Secretariat
