Dear Members,
Many members have had difficulty in getting flu vaccine this year outside the national health system. Pharmacies have received very limited supplies and have prioritized national health prescriptions and not private prescriptions. The good news is that Regione Lazio has announced that it will distribute a further 1.4 million doses as of 9th November so availability to purchase the flu vaccine through private pharmacies should be improved.
For those Rome based FFOA members who are still having problems to access influenza vaccine, please note that it is now available at the Vatican Pharmacy. You need to go with an original prescription from your doctor, signed and stamped. Only one vaccine is given per prescription. So, if you have dependents, you need to get individual prescription for each of them.
The pharmacy is inside the Vatican (entrance from North-west gate). Take your ID card for security purposes and to get the pass to go to the pharmacy. The cost per vaccine is around €24. The vaccine needs to be kept in refrigerator if you can’t get it administered the same day.
Keep safe and well.
