Dear Members,

Many of you may have known Margaret Lindsey who worked for FAO for many years. Margaret passed away in Rome at the end of 2019.

The Cimitero Acattolico, where Margaret performed voluntary service, has very kindly decided to organize a Memorial Service for her on 18 October at 11 a.m.

If you have any thoughts or stories and especially, if you have any photos you would like to show would you send them to: [log in to unmask]
Attention Amanda Thursfield.

Also, please note Amanda’s message below.

We hope to see many of you there.

Kind regards,

Dear All,

At 11.00 am on Monday 18 October we will be having a Memorial Ceremony in the Cemetery chapel for our dear friend and volunteer Margaret Lindsay. As you know, Margaret died in 2019 and is buried in our Cemetery (Zona Prima; Fila 14; Area 51) but because of Covid we have been unable up until now to have a ceremony to celebrate her life. We have chosen this particular date because it would have been Margaret’s birthday.

It will be a short ceremony, partly in English and partly in Italian, and Clarissa Botsford, from Passaggi www.passaggi.info<http://www.passaggi.info/>, will be the master of ceremonies. Clarissa is gathering information about Margaret that people would like to share with others – if you have any thoughts or stories and, especially, if you have any photos you would like to show, please send them to the email address. We cannot guarantee to use all the information we collect but it will all be useful to create a more complete picture of a woman who frequented so many different work and social environments during her life.

You do not have to reply to this email, just turn up on the day, but bear in mind that only about 36 people can sit in the chapel due to Covid restrictions. If the weather is nice, we can have the ceremony outside – if not, some of us can sit inside but some might have to stay outside the chapel. Fingers crossed for good weather. If you are not able to be with us, remember that you can pay your respects at Margaret’s tomb whenever the Cemetery is open.
