Dear Members,
We hope that you are well and coping with the current very hot spell if you are in Italy. Many of you will already be on vacation and for those still to go, we wish you a safe, restful and healthy holiday.
As already indicated in other Flashes, the FFOA will not be functioning in August, except that emails will still be monitored.
FAO continues in Phase 3 which has now been extended until 15th September so access to Hqs will be severely restricted and retirees and visitors will not be able to gain access to FAO Hqs. This is likely to be the same at IFAD and WFP. Any further changes will be reported to you.
FFOA is in the process of organizing its ‘virtual' Annual Assembly which will be held on 28th October. Further details will be given in the latest Newsbrief which you should receive shortly.
The Pension Certificates of Entitlement (CoE) can be left at IFAD and WFP everyday and at FAO on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. These will then be pouched to New York. Those non IFAD retirees leaving their CoE at IFAD should send an email to: [log in to unmask] and cc: [log in to unmask]
Cigna claim forms can be left at FAO (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) and at IFAD (daily).
FFOA has recently taken up the issue of out of pocket expenses to be incurred before coverage under MMBP is activated, with the managements at FAO, WFP and IFAD. This issue was raised by one of our members. The RBAs (Rome based Agencies) have discussed this matter with Cigna and it has now been agreed that 100% as opposed to 80% of out of pocket expenses will be taken into account in meeting the patient amount (Euros 260/$360) before MMBP is applied. Out of pocket expenses do not apply to capped benefits (dental, physiotherapy, optical, hospital bed and board expenses, etc.). The modalities related to crediting claim reimbursements already made are still to be worked out.
Please be safe and well and enjoy your vacations. Wear your masks and keep your distance.
Warm regards.
FFOA Executive Committee
