Dear colleagues,

Season greetings from the AP Weekly Price Monitor team!

We are pleased to share with you the latest AP Weekly Price Monitor (08 March<http://www.fao.org/fileadmin/templates/rap/files/ESP/2013-03-04_AP_Weekly_-_Full_report.pdf>). You can find this and previous issues here<http://www.fao.org/fileadmin/templates/rap/files/ESP/2013-02-25_AP_Weekly_-_Full_report.pdf>.

Over the past week, staple food commodity prices remained relatively stable in all reporting countries, except for Myanmar. Wheat prices in dropped by 12 percent during the last week of February. Maize prices increased by 6 percent during the same period of time. Although maize is produced mainly for feed, maize prices have been gradually increasing since early this year.

Under national policy highlights, the Government of India is offering a 10-year guarantee to build warehouses under the Private Entrepreneurs Guarantee Scheme (PEG).
Regarding the weather situation over the last two weeks:

* According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Tropical Depression Shanshan, locally known as Crising, affected about 51,000 families (260,000 people) across 8 regions of the Philippines including areas still recovering from Bopha (December 2012). According to a media report, the damage to the agriculture sector was estimated at PHP 11.2 million (USD 274,000) including PHP 10 million (USD 245,000) in rice; PHP 0.4 million (USD 9,700) in corn; and PHP 0.7 million (USD 17,000) in vegetables in Asuncion town in Davao del Norte provinces (OCHA and InterAksyon News, 01 March 2013).
