Dear Mountain Partnership members and friends,

The United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP15) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) will take place in Montreal, Canada from 7-19 December 2022. The conference will see the adoption of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. The framework provides a strategic vision and a global roadmap for the conservation, protection, restoration and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems for the next decade.

Please see our messages for you:

If your government or organization is organizing an event/activity at COP15 that it is not in this list, kindly share details with us by 2 December 2022 to further align our members and maximize impact at COP15.

2. Meeting with the CBD officer responsible for mountain biodiversity

Ms Jamal Annagylyjova has joined the CBD secretariat about a year ago and she is - among other responsibilities - in charge of mountain biodiversity. A meeting will be organized with her during the COP - date to be confirmed. If you are at the COP please send an email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> so that you can be invited at this meeting - please specify your dates at the COP.

3. Programme of work on mountain biodiversity

This CBD programme of work<https://www.cbd.int/mountain/pow.shtml> launched on 2007 is inactive since many years. The parties can request that it is revitalized given the global relevance of mountain biodiversity. Please include this request in your statement at the CBD COP.

Thank you.

With kind regards,
Rosalaura Romeo
