Subject: URGENT - for Mountain organizations' action - deadline 25 JULY

Dear Mountain Partnership friends,

We would like to ask your support to ensure that "mountains" are fully included in the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. The CBD Secretariat has just opened a window for receiving comments to the current Peer-Review exercise in preparation of the 24th Meeting of the Subsidiary body on Scientific, technical and technological advice of the CBD.

Any individual, organisation or government can send comments and contribution to this peer-review exercise. The deadline to send the comments is July 25 and they should be sent to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. The comments must be submitted in a template provided by the CBD Secretariat; the MPS has prepared some language that can be used by all members - see attached documents.

This peer review aims to gather as much comments and contributions as possible on documents that will be discussed as the next meeting of the SBSTTA (November 2020, as currently planned).
All documents for peer-review can be found and downloaded at: https://www.cbd.int/sbstta24/review.shtml

Please find attached two documents with the proposed "mountain" language to be urgently submitted . The MPS has reviewed those two CBD documents in order to reintroduce attention to the Mountain Ecosystems and Mountain Agenda with more strength in the Post 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. The two documents are:

* The Monitoring Framework for the Post 2020 Biodiversity Strategy:
In attachment you will find the template with the MPS suggestions. It is important that you use this template as requested by the Secretariat of the CBD. Insert all the information regarding your organization and feel free to simply use the wording of the MPS. Obviously, you can provide your own wording, if you prefer.

* The list of indicators to use for purposes of monitoring:
Please submit this table, by adding the details of your organization/institution as explained in the attached document. Should your organization/institution have developed other indicators relating to mountain biodiversity, even if these indicators are still on the way of being refined, elaborated please add them to this 2nd template to send the suggestions to the CBD Secretariat.

The MPS remains at your disposition for any request or precision needed and please note the tight deadline and send your contribution by July 25 to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> .

Best regards,

Rosalaura
Mountain Partnership Secretariat
