Dear Mountain Partnership members and friends,

Please find below links related to the outreach for International Mountain Day 2021. More than 110 articles were published by major national and international news outlets.

Over 6,600 tweets with the hashtag #MountainsMatter were delivered to more than 107 million Twitter timelines. During the period 10-17 December, over 50 multilingual posts were shared by FAO accounts receiving 800 mentions and reaching over 21 million accounts. In addition, two FAO Instagram Reels videos received over 128,000 views.

Over 390 photos were received from 66 countries for the mountain tourism photo contest<https://www.fao.org/international-mountain-day/photo-contest/en/>.

Susheel Kumar Shrestha from Nepal (top left) won the photo contest in the adult category for his photo "Beautiful Nepal".

Yifei Yan from China (right) won the photo contest in the youth category for her photo "Mt Assiniboine and Hind Hut", taken in Canada.

An online event<https://www.fao.org/mountain-partnership/events/imd-2021/en/> was organized to celebrate the day which featured the launch of a new joint publication<https://www.fao.org/documents/card/en/c/cb7884en> on the role of tourism in the sustainable development of mountain regions by FAO and UNWTO. Fashion designer Stella Jean and Tajik youth volunteer Dilshodbegim Khusravova were appointment Mountain Partnership Goodwill Ambassadors.
