CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Dear Mountain Partnership Members and Friends,

We wish to remind you about the possibility of sending abstracts for the forthcoming World Mountain Forum (WFM), organised by the Consortium for Sustainable Development of the Andean Ecoregion (CONDESAN), along with several partner organizations, in Cusco, Peru, on 23-24 May 2014. This international event will provide an opportunity for dialogue among stakeholders to promote sustainable mountain development, to share learning experiences and to reach an agreement on policy recommendations for land management.

The Forum will also provide a platform to discuss ways to include mountains in national policies in the region, in advance of the 20th session of the Conference of Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP20), which will take place in Lima, Peru, in December 2014.

The WMF 2014 will cover the following topics

Topic 1: Family Farming, water and food security Leader organizations: FAO, CDE, ARCOS

Topic 2: Climate Change Leader organizations : UNESCO, UNEP, UZH, SDC, ICIMOD

Topic 3: Mountain cities Leader organization: CONDESAN

Topic 4: Mountain Communities Leader organizations: CDE, UCA, FDDM

As each topic is very broad, the WMF 2014 is proposing some priority issues that will be covered by presentations from participants. Based on the material received, the organizing committee will arrange the sessions of the WMF. The presentations may have the form of paper, poster or audiovisual.
