Dear Members,

The discussion on Integrating nutrition into the curricula of agriculture education institutions: Strengthening human capacity to promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/forum/discussions/integrating_nutrition> attracted new comments which we share below.

Participants are exploring how to integrate nutrition into the training of agricultural workers, what components to include and what results to expect in terms of improving nutrition.

There are certainly challenges to face and issues to be further explored especially related to the essential components of nutrition education and to the results to expect on the field, which are all part of the questions proposed for the debate.

It would be particularly interesting also to hear comments from institutions which are contemplating curriculum change.

Please read more on the discussion webpage<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/forum/discussions/integrating_nutrition>, also available in French<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/fr/forum/discussions/integrating_nutrition> and Spanish<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/es/forum/discussions/integrating_nutrition>.

We look forward to further comments.

Your FSN Forum team

Lisa stresses that food losses are a loss of nutrition for growers and consumers and that agricultural education curricula should include topics on how to: 1) protect foods from damage and deterioration after the harvest, 2) prevent physical loss, loss of quality and nutritional value, and 3) protect foods from contamination and pests during the postharvest period.
