[cid:image004.png@01D0DB43.F159A460]Syed Md. Zainul Abedin, Bangladesh
Syed gives us information about the role of honey in Bangladesh where it is a much valued food item accessible by the majority of the population. He also mentions the lack of support for beekeeping by the government and the need to strengthen training and credit access for beekeepers.

[cid:image004.png@01D0DB43.F159A460]Lal Manavado, University of Oslo affiliate, Norway
Lal provides us with a detailed picture of the threat faced by bees. He argues that there are two main reasons why the bee populations are now under threat . The first one is habitat degradation resulting from human over-population that requires the expansion of infra-structure, housing as well as industrial and agricultural installations. The second part of the threat stems from the use of insecticides and insect repellents used in agro-industry. Lal also proposes some practical solutions to reverse this undesirable trend.
