Online consultation on the development of a Global Core Set (GCS) of forest-related indicators

Dear Members,

We would like to inform you that the FSN Forum, in partnership with the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), is currently hosting an open online consultation on the development of a Global Core Set (GCS) of forest-related indicators<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/activities/discussions/forestry_indicators>.

This exchange calls on those interested or working in forestry to take part in the development of a set of indicators which can be used to measure progress towards sustainable forest management in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Rio conventions.

The main idea is to make the indicators as useful as possible by simplifying and harmonizing concepts and terminology and taking into account the needs of all potential users.

The set of indicators contains both the initial proposals and some suggestions for enhancement: please feel free to comment on any aspect of this core set of forest-related indicators and to recommend further improvements.

If you are interested in learning more about these indicators and would like to share your views, please visit the discussion page<http://www.fao.org/fsnforum/activities/discussions/forestry_indicators> where you will find all background information and the proposed set of indicators.

Also, please do not hesitate to forward this to friends and colleagues who might be interested in this exchange.

All the best,

Your FSN Forum Team
