Within the Working Group on Capacity Building, GBEP convened in Bonn (Germany) on 2-4 July 2014, the meetings of the Activity Group 5 (AG5) "The Global Renewable Energy Atlas - Bioenergy Component" (led by IRENA), and of the Activity Group 2 (AG2) ""Raising awareness, and sharing of data and experience on the implementation of the GBEP indicators".



v  2nd  GBEP Bioenergy Week fosters sustainable production and use of bioenergy in Africa<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/news0/newsletter/newsletter900000/2/en/>



GBEP organized the 2nd  GBEP Bioenergy Week from 5 to 9 May 2014 in Maputo, Mozambique, as part of efforts of the GBEP Working Group on Capacity Building for Sustainable Bioenergy to facilitate cooperation and capacity building on the potential benefits of sustainable modern bioenergy. The event was a follow up to the 1st  GBEP Bioenergy Week held in 2013 in Brazil in the framework of the Activity Group 3 (AG3) ""Study tour for capacity building and training" - led by Brazil - which has the core missions of organizing short courses with specific themes of sustainable production and use of bioenergy where effective policy frameworks may be discussed, taking into account the 24 indicators approved by GBEP.



v  Bioenergy and Sustainable Energy for All initiative:  the Sustainable Bioenergy High-Impact Opportunity <http://www.globalbioenergy.org/news0/newsletter/newsletter900000/3/en/>



"Energy is the golden thread that connects economic growth, increased social equity and an environment that allows the world to thrive": with these words the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon guided and inspired the Sustainable Energy for All initiative (SE4ALL), sharing its vision for how governments, business and civil society, working in partnership, can make sustainable energy for all a reality by 2030. Within this framework, the Sustainable Bioenergy High-Impact Opportunity - co- chaired by FAO and IUCN with the support of Novozymes acting as Secretariat - has been established with the aim to catalyze deployment of sustainable bioenergy.



v  Global Bioenergy Perspectives: OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2014-2023<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/news0/newsletter/newsletter900000/4/en/>



The Agricultural Outlook, 2014-2023, is a collaborative effort of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. It brings together the commodity, policy and country expertise of both organisations and input from collaborating member countries to provide an annual assessment of prospects for the coming decade of national, regional and global agricultural commodity markets. GBEP was honoured to contribute to this publication with a box explaining policy options for biofuel in Indonesia, building on the experience gained in the country through the implementation of the GBEP indicators.
