Two new GBEP-related projects launched June 2021:
FAO project: "Rapid sustainability assessment of the biodiesel sector from soy in Paraguay through the use of the GBEP indicators"
A preliminary assessment of the biodiesel value chain in Paraguay is being undertaken in collaboration with FAO Paraguay and CEAMSO (Centro de Estudio Ambientales y Sociales, Paraguay), with a view to provide initial feedback on critical areas for further analysis and policy needs. The first meeting of the multi-stakeholder working group was convened on 17 June with representatives from government, private sector and academia. The project will run until the end of August.

FAO project: "Rapid Implementation Framework"
This FAO project will contribute to the sub-group of the Task Force on Sustainability that focuses on facilitating the implementation of the GBEP Sustainability Indicators for Bioenergy, more specifically to the workstream on the 'Rapid Implementation Framework". The output of this 6-month project, which will finish in December, will be a description of how to carry out a rapid implementation of the GBEP Sustainability Indicators for Bioenergy and the accompanying handbook for practitioners. The project will represent not only a useful standalone resource for facilitating the rapid implementation of the GSI but will also provide a good basis for a larger project that can incorporate these concepts into a broader online platform that includes data-entry capabilities.
If you would like any more information on the updates in this email, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
GBEP Secretariat
