Dear Partners and Observers,

Many thanks to all of you who were able to attend the GBEP Annual Meetings online last week, especially to the co-chairs of the technical groups and the Steering Committee, as well as all presenters. The meeting included interesting presentations on the work done by GBEP and external partners in 2022 (available on the GBEP website for the WGCB<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/events1/gbep-events-2022/working-group-on-capacity-building-meetings-and-activities-2022/en/>, TFS<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/events1/gbep-events-2022/task-force-on-sustainability/en/> and SC<http://www.globalbioenergy.org/events1/gbep-events-2022/steering-committee-meetings-2022/en/>), as well as lively discussions on the activities to be carried out in 2023.

Please find attached the co-chair conclusions from the 14th Working Group on Capacity Building and 20th Task Force on Sustainability meetings, along with the co-chair summary of the 27th Steering Committee meeting (also available on the GBEP website in the above-mentioned pages). For your convenience, we also summarize here below the main action points from the meeting where Partners and Observers are invited to contribute and the respective deadlines:

* Working Group on Capacity Building

In light of the Programme of Work endorsed by the Steering Committee, by 20 January 2023, Partners and Observers are invited to:

-        Suggest further activities for 2023, above those mentioned in the co-chair conclusions, for any of the Activity Groups;

- Suggest thematic sessions and potential speakers for the Bioenergy Week 2023 to be held in Viet Nam; and

- Suggest further 2023 events where the participation of the GBEP Secretariat is advantageous.

*         Task Force on Sustainability

In light of the Programme of Work endorsed by the Steering Committee, by 20 January 2023, Partners and Observers are invited to:

- Contact the GBEP Secretariat for interest in contributing to the Rapid Implementation Framework piloting; and

- Express interest to develop joint project proposals to integrate the implementation of the GSIs and/or RIF for external funding opportunities.

*         Funding arrangements

GBEP Partners and Observers are invited to make extra efforts to financially contribute to the GBEP Secretariat, with a view to implement the GBEP programme of work with a long-term perspective. Bilateral discussions with the GBEP Secretariat are welcomed, with a view to support on this important aspect.

We look forward to working with you all in the coming year!

We remain available for any clarifications.

Kind regards,

GBEP Secretariat
