Dear Partners and Observers,
As part of the informal electronic group on Linking Bioenergy with Food security and nutrition, we are pleased to share with you the first draft of the Literature Review of the Linkages Between Bioenergy and Nutrition. The paper has been prepared by Caitlin McGinnis of the Food and Nutrition Division (ESN) of FAO, as a kind contribution by FAO to the Programme of Work of the Global Bioenergy Partnership.
The aim of this literature review is to collect and analyze the available literature most relevant to the relationship between bioenergy and nutrition. The literature review is exploratory rather than systemic in nature, and primarily includes peer-reviewed literature on this topic. The literature review explores the various interlinkages between bioenergy and nutrition, including food security implications and the impacts on the agricultural and transportation sectors.
We kindly ask Partners and Observers for two actions in relation to the Literature Review and future work under this electronic group:
1. Please review the attached Literature Review and provide any feedback, e.g. suggestions for further literature or topics, ideas on interpretation of findings, etc.
2. In order to enrich the paper still further, we would like to include extra case studies in Section 2. Please provide any case studies in the attached template format so that they can be included in the paper. You are welcome to share the template within your relevant networks. Filled in templates can be sent to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
Deadline for inputs is Friday 11 March.
The plan of work is to reflect inputs and suggestions of GBEP Partners and Observers into the Literature Review and organize a webinar in April/May, not only to give an overview of the Literature Review in this important thematic area, but also to present one or two of the case studies collected.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
GBEP Secretariat
