We hope this message finds you all very well.


We are delighted to share that we successfully held the 9th GBEP Bioenergy Week in Asunción, Paraguay, on 26-29 September 2022. The event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Paraguay, with FAO Paraguay, and thanks to financial support from U.S. Grains Council. Additional appreciated support was also provided by MERCOSUR and IICA by leading some important sessions. The event was held as a hybrid event that registered more than 100 participants in person and approximately 60 participants online, every day, with speakers from all over the world.

Allow us also to take this opportunity to inform you about two upcoming GBEP webinars:

1.       Advanced liquid biofuels for net zero - How to ensure sustainable and responsible sourcing in supply chains?, that will take place online on Wednesday 26 October 2022, 15:00-16.16 CEST (UTC+2).  This webinar is organized by the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP), in collaboration with the Markets and Trade Division (EST) of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and the Biofuture Campaign. It will introduce and explain the concepts of sustainable and responsible sourcing in global agricultural supply chains, and how this relates to the advanced biofuel sector. It will explore the various challenges and opportunities for risk-based due diligence to improve the sustainability of the sector. The webinar will include a panel discussion that will explore the needs of the sector in order to achieve better sustainable development outcomes. 2.       Biomass for hydrogen - facilitating the contribution to the sustainable energy transition, that will take place online on Wednesday 2 November 2022, 14:00-15:15 CET (UTC+1). This webinar will present recent research in the field of biohydrogen. Please consider joining the Webinar and participating in the discussion session with your questions to panelists to help us all come closer to understanding the next steps for deploying hydrogen technologies and necessary policy frameworks.
