Hello everybody,

The withdrawal of the ORAC database from the USDA website is especially
preoccupying because the ORAC method had been considered the most
physiologically relevant of the chemical assays for antioxidant activity of
foods. It measures peroxyl radicals, which is physiologically formed.
The free radicals measured by the DPPH and TEAC methods are not formed
physiologically. Right now the favored method is the cellular antioxidant
activity assay developed by Prof. Liu's group (of Cornell University). For
those of you who are interested, please read section 4 of the attached
review article.

Best regards to all,
Delia B. Rodriguez-Amaya
