Hi Amy
Yes I was going to recommend similar to Bridget in that I do not know
specifically of those for developing countries, but here in Australia we
have the Australian Dietary Guidelines which were recently reviewed in
2013.
This link will take you to the government body website with supporting
documents (NHMRC - National Health & Medical Research Council)
On this page you will find a variety of resources for different age
groups, including infants and children, with recommended serve sizes
(portion sizes) and dietary guidelines
https://www.nhmrc.gov.au/guidelines/publications/n55
Hope you find this helpful!

Dear Amy
In the UK, the Infant and Toddler Forum have some useful informaiton on
portion sizes for this age group
https://www.infantandtoddlerforum.org/toddler-portion-sizes#.UzmLn6hdWhM
and the Caroline Walker Trust also has some useful guidance
http://www.firststepsnutrition.org/pdfs/FSNT_EatingWell1-4years.pdf.
You could also have a look at the food-based dietary guidance from the
US <http://www.choosemyplate.gov/food-groups/> , Canada
<http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/food-guide-aliment/index-eng.php> and
Australia
<http://www.eatforhealth.gov.au/food-essentials/how-much-do-we-need-each
-day/recommended-number-serves-children-adolescents-and> , who I think
all have quite comprehensive information on portion sizes for different
age groups.
I hope that is helpful
Best wishes
Bridget

Subject: Actual or recommended portion sizes for children in developing
countries
Hello everyone,
My name is Amy Deptford and I am a nutritionist working for Save the
Children, based in London. We are in the process of redesigning the
software for one of our bespoke tools: the Cost of the Diet. The Cost of
the Diet is a method developed by SC UK to calculate the minimum amount
of money a typical household would need to purchase their recommended
intakes of energy, protein, fat and micronutrients, using locally
available foods.
We are trying to improve and update the underlying parameters of the
software, one of which are children's (12-23 month old) recommended or
actual portion sizes for food. Unfortunately we haven't been able to
find much published data especially in developing countries. I was
wondering if any of you know of any such data that you could direct me
to. Failing that, do you know of any academics, universities or other
institutions who are doing this research and maybe able to help me? Any
information you could provide would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Amy Deptford
