Asunto: Release of the Nigerian Food Composition Table/Database

Dear All,

On behalf of the Nigeria Foods Database Network, I have the pleasure of informing you of the launching of the Nigerian Food Composition Table (Version 1.0) at the just concluded Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, held between 19th and 23rd September, 2017 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The electronic version is available on the University of Ibadan website ( nigeriafooddata.ui.edu.ng ).

The database is made up of 282 foods, listed under 16 food groups and having 27 nutrient components. The existing gaps in the database/table indicate areas of research need. Plans are underway to fill these gaps, include more foods and recipes and update the database regularly.

Kind regards

Prof. Henrietta Ene-Obong,

AFROFOODS coordinator
