Dear all,
We are happy to inform you about the release of the

FAO/INFOODS Food Composition Database for Biodiversity Version 2.0 - BioFoodComp2.0.

The database holds now 6411 food entries from 11 food groups and 451 components, providing reliable information on the variance of nutrient composition due to biodiversity. This database holds a large collection of analytical data on insects, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, milk of underutilized species, beef breeds, potatoes and quinoa. It contains also many more data on e.g. fruits, vegetables, cereals

BioFoodComp2.0 can be downloaded free of charge from the INFOODS webpage http://www.fao.org/infoods/biodiversity/index_en.stm together with the documentation.

A yearly update of BioFoodComp is planned and researchers are encouraged to submit their compositional data to FAO for inclusion into the
FAO/INFOODS Food Composition Database for Biodiversity. More information on the submission of data is available at http://www.fao.org/infoods/biodiversity/SubmissionOfData_BioFoodComp.pdf.

Many thanks to all those who contributed data and also to our team here in FAO who did a marvelous job.

Please share it widely

Best wishes
Ruth
