Dear all,
I would like to say good bay. I will retire in May 2021 and my last working day will be on 30 April. I will return to our house near Lyon in France and take my time to enjoy life.

It has been a great honor for me to serve as global INFOODS coordinator for the last 10 years and a pleasure each time I met someone from the ¨INFOODS family¨. It was not easy to follow Barbara Burlingame as global INFOODS coordinator as she had done so much for the food composition community before me.

I would like to thank each of you for your contribution to food composition and INFOODS. I know that many of you have done a great job in advocating food composition, or teaching it in courses or universities, analyzing foods, publishing food composition data in journals or FCT/FCDB, contributing to the development of guidelines or new tools, or simply used these data. And these efforts have paid off. Since its creation in 1984, INFOODS has done a great contribution to the advancement of food composition data in terms of knowledge, standards, quality and availability. And thus contributed to better nutrition. I would also like to express my happiness for all the friendships which were created in these past years, they mean a lot to me.

I also would like to sincerely thank FAO for hosting the global INFOODS coordinator and the INFOODS website. Without FAO funds and support, I do not know where INFOODS would be today....certainly, many of the newer guidelines and FCT/FCDB would not exist. It is true, one can always do more and better. However, there is a time when to appreciate what was done, and it was a lot.

I am also pleased to announce that FAO intends to continue its support to INFOODS and a new ad interim global INFOODS coordinator has been appointed: Bridget Homes here in copy. She is leading the dietary assessment group and knows about the importance of good and sufficient food composition data.

I wish you a great continuation in your work and a lot of success in bringing food composition forward

Best wishes
Ruth

P.S. The INFOODS website will soon be updated and will then also include the videos of the recent FAO/INFOODS webinars
