Monday 13 May – The Forests for Food Security and Nutrition Conference opens today and meets until Wednesday in Rome with 400 participants expected. A press conference at 11:30 at FAO Headquarters will present the report on Edible Insects: Future Prospects for Food and Feed Security. The press conference will be webcast at http://www.fao.org/webcast/



Monday 13 May – The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean meets all week in Split, Croatia. http://151.1.154.86/GfcmWebSite/GFCM/37/docs.html



Tuesday 14 May – Many interesting side events of the Forests for Food Security and Nutrition Conference at FAO Headquarters will be held this afternoon, covering such topics as ecosystem services, fair trade and forest conservation. Wednesday 15 May – A press conference on FAO’s involvement in the Slow Food movement will take place at 11:00 at the Stampa Estera/Foreign Press Club, Via dell’Umiltà 83c, Rome. The FAO Director-General and the President of Slow Food will sign an agreement to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations aimed at improving the livelihoods of people living in rural areas.
